Get File size information before you download

Hello,

I was surfing on ASP.NET and found some interesting code snippet for getting file size from the Internet (HTTP) before download get started.

So you can get to know the size of file before you download your file

here is the simple code.

Hello,

It was Friday and of course  last day of week 😉 :P. I came at my home Ahmedabad at night around 9:oo pm.

Saturday I have planned to attend the conference which was held in Ahmedabad and the agenda was to introduce and use of HTML5 and CSS3.

Starting from simple web designer to a web developer it’s helpful to everyone I think.:)

I reached there 9:30 there was simple registration process after that the first talk was on HTML5 by Kiran Jonnalagadda it was good and the basic use of HTML5. After the talk there was some interesting stuff. We had our registration on the website doctypehtml5.in for the event  and they were storing the user Agent of everyone and based on that details they made chart of how many people are using which browser.

It was very interesting as most of them were using Firefox,Chrome,Safari,IE8,IE9.Opera and the fun part was that some of have used IE6 ya I know its strange to use IE6 now a days but still people do 😛

By the way in mid presentation I get to know that the all presentation were made in HTML5 so there was no PPT.

After that talk we had small tea break and then presentation of CSS3 by Rahul Gonsalves. It was nice as he explained lots of the new features of CSS3 with HTML5. It’s very cool and we must use in our projects as well.:)

He covered many cool topics in CSS3 & HTML5 . Following site is very nice site for CSS3.

After that presentation I know everyone must hate this thing but still I’ll write. the presentation on IE9 by Sandeep Alur from Microsoft. He has explained the new features of IE9.

He gave some demo of  IE9+Windows7 so how it performs well with Windows 7 .

Then after the lunch break we were having session on HTML5 multimedia like video,audio and all other cool features of that.This presentation was given by Sanjay Bhangar. He is working on open source project called http://pad.ma from past three years.

You must visit that site as they highly use HTML5. He explained us how to use video,audio and some api for the same. In last he demonstrated his project and it was very nice and having very good features like, We can send some part of video to friend,  I mean you can send 10 min of video from 1 hour video to friend and other excellent feature were there too.

And in last we are having presentation on geolocation and offline cache storage by Dhaval Trivadi . It was good and he explained how we can develop it in our own application. He had also introduced some new framework for mobile/ipad devices like jQuery , jqtouch.

jqtouch its nice just make your browser window as emulator.

Overall the seminar was good. I enjoyed  a lot.

Motivational Programming Poster

I have been searching around coding style and how we can make our code neat and clean suddenly I found nice posters to get motivate during programming 😛

We have all seen that,sometimes  the code make us mad. The project which leave you scratching your head for hours and hours to  late night. We are waking up  early in morning  or in midnight  sometime 😛 with our mind racing about 1000 line long methods. Some time we get angry after seeing countless nested loops 😛 😦 Some time we get source code of other projects and after seeing code we found that there is no framework followed for programming.

 

It doesn’t matter which programming language you are using but your code should be neat and clean so that any one can understand 🙂

ASP.NET MVC

Hello,

As I have started my internship in January I want to learn ASP.NET MVC architecture so I got time to learn this thing  during my internship training.

So ASP.NET has provided an awesome framework called ASP.NET MVC for developing MVC application its not totally different from the simple implementation of ASP.NET website. But its not compulsory to use this features its depend upon you weather you want to make your websites using MVC framework or simple.

I would like to say that as in introduction of MVC the first benefit is clean URL I mean client does not have direct access to physical path of the page i.e Default.aspx but its based on controller so it has clean URL I would say.

MVC has divided the implementation  in three part

MODEL,VIEW,CONTROLLER.

Thrid Semester projects

As I have mentioned my third semester journey in my last post I would like to describe my projects separately in this post.

In my third semester I am having two projects one is in Software Engineer and another is in Distributed Computing a.k.a DCOM.

In Software Engineering we got team with 7 classmates which has been decided by professor and we have to decide the project definition.

We have collected all team members ideas and at the end we got something new called e-society in which we were planning to reduce the work of secretary,chairman of the society.

The concept is same as social network where society member can share their views, on-line meetings, we have thought of on-line payment but  we haven’t implemented due to time.

After deciding all the things we have to decide the technology and all those things so after the discussion we finalized to  make in ASP.NET / C# and SQL server 2005 as back-end.

But simple ASP.NET was not enough as we need to learn lots of things  so we decided to make in Three tier Architecture.Which includes Business Access Layer (BAL) and Data Access Layer (DAL) and presentation layer.

I loved it as the code was too clean and easy to implement we learned lots of new things in that projects like team coordination,time management and development side too.

Now in Distributed computing(DCOM) we have to make something new.

So we were having group of three people. We took project which provides the web services for getting score of events and then send the SMS to user with their convenience of time/Day. I mean that user can subscribe for MONDAY,FRIDAY so user will receive message on these two days only.

We made this project in ASP.NET and for SMS we have used gateway which was developed by Ravi Vagadiya,vishal Dhawani my classmates.

In this project I have learned the web services and distributed part of web site using ASP.NET/C#

We have also provided web services so other web developers can use the same.

I have enjoyed working of both project with my team members and had good experience.

Since July 2010 to Jan 2011

Hello,

I have been busy in my third semester and placements so was unable to write my blog. I was very tensed regarding my career and placements, In our college, placement started in July 2010 and I was waiting with interest of my company.

In the month of September the company named paul Mason Consulting(PMC) visited our campus and i sat for that company for .NET profile and i was selected as intern in that company. Still I was not satisfied as I didn’t have any JOB offer. Then in the last week of September i got to know that company called MAXIM-IC is going visit our campus and I was excited because it completely based on .NET profile but at the time of registration i got new s that i am not eligible for sitting in the company and i was sad but some how I got chance to sit in that company. So I have prepared for that company, 4th oct. 11:00 AM morning I went to exam hall and was very tensed I took test which was about an hour and after 3 hours I got the result  and I was shortlisted for interview. There were total four panel of interviewers and have to face each turn by turn 😦 :(. I have successfully cleared  all the interviews and got selected in MAXIM-IC as Software Engineer. 🙂 🙂

After all these things I thought I am free but I was not. 😛 Because lots of things was left I mean exams,projects,etc.

My projects were some what interesting because had taken some new concepts and both of them were in ASP.NET/C# I will write separate post for my projects in NEXT post.

At the end of my semester there was final exam which was held in the last week of November so I have to prepare well to score the good marks but as usual I am week in theory subjects 😦  though I didn’t failed in any subjects :D. Finally I got result in second week of December PASS with 6.41 SPI and 6.78 CPI(Aggregate).  Then I was enjoying my vacation with my best buddies  enjoyed a lot and in free time I was doing some forum reply and have also written some articles too.

I have enjoyed my last semester a lot and now I had left my lovely awesome hostel.:( 😦 I am missing  all my friends badly.:(:(

I got joining date of my internship which was 28th December and have to setup everything in baroda. As my internship is in BARODA. I got PG and staying there and doing my internship.

Hello friends,

Once i was developing auction website in PHP,I was worried about gridview. Then i searched a lot on net and can’t find any thing what i want.

Suddenly some day i just found php gridivew , I just download it and try to integrate with my website and its awesome.  We have to pass the parameters. Each and every functions are there, like (sorting,editing,exporting)

Anthem Toollkit

Hello friends,

Now I am describing the use of anthem toolkit.

Anthem is very powerful toolkit which is very popular for GridView and some other ASP.NET Control.

Anthem Toolkit is completly base on AJAX and performing all action using AJAX technique so there is no need of getting postback each and every time.

You can use anthem gridview easily and this control toolkit is an open source.
